Antique German Blonde Low Brow Porcelain Doll Blue Silk Sequin Gown

  
Antique German blonde low-brow porcelain doll, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. She has a glazed porcelain shoulder head with molded blonde hair, hand-painted blue eyes and rosy cheeks, porcelain lower arms and legs, and a cloth body. The back of the shoulder plate is impressed "GERMANY" with a size number 2.

She is dressed in a pale blue silk/satin gown with a long train, iridescent sequins, pink beadwork, and metallic lace trim at the cuffs and hem. The costume is very well made and beautifully complements the doll; I cannot confirm whether it is original to her. Wooden thread spool is incorporated into the cloth body construction and remains visible internally. The doll is remarkably well preserved for her age. The porcelain presents beautifully, while the costume shows light age-related wear and some darkening to the metallic trim.
