Rare antique Schönau & Hoffmeister doll, featuring a beautiful bisque porcelain head marked with the "SH" star logo, "PB 600" and "11". This unusual collector's doll may originally have been part of an automaton. She has fixed blue glass eyes, an open mouth with visible upper teeth, finely painted facial features and a glued dark-brown wig. The body is made of composition and wood and appears to have been restored or reconstructed.
She wears an attractive antique-style pink and gold costume. Height: approximately 27 cm / 10.6 inches. The doll is in antique, pre-owned condition, with age-related wear, marks and possible old repairs. The wig is untidy and shows some lifting. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. A rare and charming Schönau & Hoffmeister piece for collectors of antique German dolls, bisque-head dolls and automata.
