Antique Porcelain German Half Doll Of Lady Sarah Siddons Gainsborough Inspired

  
Her portrait was done by the great artist Gainsborough and it is this portrait that inspired this half doll. The doll has been dressed in antique velvet chenille embroidered satin and lace. The under panel at the front of her gown is also an antique embroidered textile with a touch of metallic.

This very much looks like a court gown and of the grandeur due her fame and position in society. She was married for many years and had 7 children (5 of whom she outlived) and frequently appeared pregnant on stage. She is holding a bouquet of flowers which unfortunately hides the fact that over the years she lost a hand. The prestigious factory of William Goebel as referenced. On page 60 in Lorrin's Half Doll Book Volume 6.

This is a very collectible doll. Presented in fittingly opulent splendor. Size: Doll: 4 1/2" high Full Height: 13 1/2". Almost all the items I list are antique or vintage.
