This 6 ½ inch tall head, circa the 1880s, was manufactured in Germany by the Kling Porcelain Company. The bisque shoulder head is attached with ribbon to an antique body, jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees with lovely bisque lower arms, hands, and fingers. The body, most likely original to the doll, originally had the head glued to the body. Over time, the glue has dried and released the head from the body.
The previous owner decided not to reglue the head to the body, but instead just used a white ribbon to secure the head to the body. Please review the pictures to see how this was done..
To securely and safely pack the body and the head, I will not reattach the two but instead wrap them separately. The new owner may choose to use glue to affix the head to the body more permanently or use the ribbon as before for a temporary measure. The large 27 inch tall doll wears a great antique pink print cotton dress with both antique and newer cotton underclothing She also wears knit socks and older brown leather shoes. Shoulder head has deep "early out of the mold" modeling. The blonde curly molded hair has deep comb marks and reveals the lower portion of the doll's.She has molded and painted facial features with a closed mouth and blue glass set eyes. The center lower back of the shoulder plate is incised simply with the size number''0.
