Antique 4.25 Frozen Charlie China Doll Orange Boots Civil War Era c. 1860s
Antique 4.25 Frozen Charlie China Doll Orange Boots Civil War Era c. A wonderful little antique Frozen Charlie, measuring approximately 4.25 inches tall and believed to date to the Civil War era, circa the 1860s. He has molded black hair, delicately painted blue eyes, rosy cheeks, and a sweet little orange-red mouth. His most striking feature is his wonderful bright orange boots, accented with black tops, toes, and painted button details. This is a boot color I have not encountered before, and it gives him such a distinctive appearance. Made of glazed china in one piece, with a charming rounded tummy and bent arms, he is a lovely example for an antique doll collection. Please note a fairly prominent dark firing dot on his shoulder, along with smaller scattered manufacturing specks. There is a rough, dark irregularity on the back of his right leg just above the boot, which appears to be an original manufacturing or firing flaw, although I cannot confirm this conclusively.
There are also small indentations or divots on his buttocks, as shown in the close-up photographs. Some wear and irregularities are visible in the boot decoration. Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the close-ups of these areas, as they form part of the description. Height: Approximately 4.25 inches. Estimated age: Circa 1860s, Civil War era.
