Along with her bonnet and parasol! The china head, German made doll comes with her ORIGINAL. Firmly stuffed body and fantastic pink and black tasseled boots with yellow soles.
Shoulder plate is marked "1008 5" on the bottom back. Her petticoat and bloomers are ORIGINAL to this doll, as the bloomers are sewn closed upon her and the petticoat matches the bloomers--both having four rows of tucks and two rows of HAND EMBROIDERED, scalloped lace trim. These are the BEST set of underclothes Ive seen original to a doll.
The workmanship on the petticoat and bloomers is fabulous! The underwear alone is a wonderful find as so often they are not a match nor original to the doll. The CHARMING and hard-to-find antique, two piece cotton dress she wears is a black and cream pattern with pink and red calico trim on the hem, the bottom of the sleeves and down and around the bottom of the bodice. The bodice closes with three tiny. The dress is in wonderful antique condition, with some fading.
Commensurate with age--but no tears. The seams are hand-stitched in the bodice and the skirt, with some treadle sewing. There are no scratches to this doll's rosy cheeks or face and her forehead curls and hair suffer no loss of color except for one rub spot on the back of her head. Any white areas on the hair in the photographs other than the one low in the back are from light reflections onto the shiny surface of the doll. I believe the doll is from 1860s-1870s based on her boot design, body dress, and hairstyle.
From being fired-- she has one tip off of her left pink boot, but the pink paint covers the tip loss, so was done in production and not through damage. She has an old reinforcement around the arm just above the china arm in an old attempt at covering one small hole that reveals horsehair stuffing (so wont spill out). Her body and legs are horsehair stuffed and have no holes. She has a trunk full of authentic antique clothing, with a few vintage items. The dome lidded doll trunk is 7 deep, 7.5 high, and 12 wide. The trunk is loosing areas of the brown and black strapped paper on the outside and paper is fragile in areas, but still presents very well. The trunk has a LOVELY interior in very good condition and is a wonderful display open with the doll and her clothing. Both of the original leather handles are here but in need of repair.
The original brass lock and closure is intact, as well as the hinges, leather trim on both sides and front of the outside domed lid. This trunk is from the late 19th century--and the DOLL AND ALL OF THE CLOTHING, hat, parasol and the book fit inside for display, storage or transport. This doll and her belongs are a wonderful find! Inside the doll trunk is a treasure! Original violet floral deign in the inner lid with a 19th century little girl watering a flower pasted inside the lid (original).
The lower portion of the trunk is a green geometric patterned paper and in very good condition as well. The trunk can remain open with the trunk strap inside.
I have included the book that was in the trunk as it is perfect for resting it across the bottom of the trunk and displaying the doll perched upon it. The book is an instructional German language book from 1917. The book is hardcover and from the Kalamazoo Public Schools library originally and in excellent condition. A vintage straw hat with antique black "horse hair" braided trim inside and cloth flowers under the brim, with antique black ribbon and red and cream ribbon on the outside.
There is a DARLING antique, cream-colored, two-piece walking suit sewn from ribbed cotton with a draw-string at the waist. It is nautically inspired for a day at the shore!
The jacket has turned back cuffs at the bottom of the sleeves, with a skirt waist band that closes with a hook and eye. There are lace inserts on the skirt that match the lace trim on the collar, front and cuffs of the jacket.
It can be worn with the blue floral blouse included for a complete outfit--and carrying the parasol when walking the seaside promenade. Blue floral cotton blouse -- mostly hand-stitched but some machine stitching, snap closure at back neck. To be worn with plaid skirt and sweater or under the cream jacket with matching skirt. Blue plaid walking skirt, with velvet waist-band, black fabric covered buttons in front and matching black fabric buttons down the longer "train" back, with inserts in the back and hook/eye closure at side waist.
Some mild fading to front of the skirt. Can be worn with floral blouse and the crocheted sweater, or both. Cream wool crochet sweater with tiny pink trim around the hem and sleeve edge. Some loss of yarn at the back neck edge, but in very nice condition. Looks charming with the skirt and blouse for a trip to the market. Antique sheer muslin robe for combing out her hair after the long day, with 2 sets of double pleats from the neck in the back and gathered sleeves. The sleeves are pagoda-type, typical with 1860s, and is gathered across the shoulders in the front. Vintage navy and cream doll quilt--used to hang over the side of the trunk for charming effect and to cover herself while reads in her robe near the fire.Vintage Parasol of cream tatting with black ribbon around the edge and tied at the handle with black paint accents--OPENS AND CLOSES EASILY! Strong, workable condition--and looks charming with each outfit and for the promenade. 1917 hardbound German language book that can be used to sit across the sides of the trunk to sit the China head doll upon for display. The doll wears hand- embroidered lace pantaloons and petticoat with four rows of tucks.
She wears a two-piece walking outfit from black and cream striped and plaid calico, with floral calico trim in pink and red with tiny, three holed buttons to fasten the bodice. All of the contents including the doll- fit into the trunk and closes for transport or storage. Please see my other antique and vintage doll items for sale. From smoke-free and pet-free home.
