Antique Kestner Gibson girl doll. Kestner stamp on its chest has rubbed, but still identifiable. Doll is in as found condition. The doll has surface dirt throughout and should cleanup very nicely. We didn't want to touch it as we don't know the proper cleaning methods.
The upswept mohair wig is orange tinted in color, with it being on the border of being called either brunette or redhead. Attached at the front of the scalp, while the the remainder is unattached but sits snuggly. The glass eyes are amber with a thin line of gold encircling them.
Both the eyes and eyelids have a fair amount of dirt buildup due to age and storage. The top lashes are real hair and about 90% present with some signs of loss. Painted brows, cheeks and lips are all strong with only surface dirt. Clothes are mismatched, but contemporary to the doll with beautiful hand made lace and compliment her well. Clothes also have dirt, stains, missing button, rips, and other problems common for fragile items of this age. The most notable damage we could find is on the left arm where the leather meets the porcelain and has ripped.A very old home repair is present where a previous owner has wrapped metal wire from the shoulder down around the arm and then around the elbow connection to hold the arm in place. The way this has been done has married the bisque to the leather portion quite well, though it wobbles and clearly much looser than the other arm. Should joint still functions normally. The metal connectors at most every joint have surface rust and oxidation. Overall a beautiful that should clean up quite nicely.
