18 Hertwig Black Haired China Head Doll In Velvet Dress 14

  

This is a lovely Black haired Hertwig doll measuring in at 18 inches. She is on a new body with either antique or good vintage arms and legs used in her creation.

When we say this "good vintage" that means these arms and legs are porcelain. They are not ceramic which will show crackling underneath the finish very quickly with age.

She has been dressed in an antique purple? Velvet "pancake layered" dress, consisting of a a full-skirted peplum, and subsequent "layers" of velvet flounce, trimmed in white lace, around the circumference of the dress one level to the next, like a pancake, to the very bottom.

Beneath, is a crinoline to support the weight of the dress and help it stick out, and the doll's pantalettes. Bodice of the dress is white lace, trimmed in white lace with a gathered flounce of velvet beneath it. A tiny stand up collar fits snugly around the doll's neck, with lace edging the top. A cameo rests on a bed of folded black ribbon and is fastened to the doll's bodice.
