This is a beautiful 21 inch, circa 1870s, Black haired, blue-eyed China Head doll in excellent condition. There are only a few small areas of paint rubs at the back of her head. We have recovered her antique body due to some leakage issues and to avoid future problems. Her arms were replaced with antique replacements as the ones she had were damaged. Both legs were destroyed, so these, too, were replaced with reproduction bisque legs. Antique arms are easy to acquire.

Antique legs, not so much... Were have dressed this doll in a very pretty silky purple/ lavender dress, featuring lace trims, and a pretty 1928 pin with a purple stone.

The material is very rich and lovely, and the front of the dress is pretty. It has a stand up collar and long sleeves. She wears lace trimmed pantalettes. On her head, she is wearing a constructed bonnet of a paler lavender with pink streamers and white lace along the outside edge. It looks very pretty tied under her chin.

We have used some museum putty to help the bonnet stay affixed to her head. This will not mar the paint on the head of the doll, nor the inside of the bonnet.
