These two dolls are 5 ¼ inches tall each and wear their original costumes. Each has a bisque socket head and a composition body jointed at the shoulder, hips, and necks. They have painted facial features, closed mouths, and brown mohair wigs. Each doll has molded and painted black shirred long above the knee socks and brown heeled shoes that are a part of each leg.
The clothing is fabulously detailed, authentic, and original. They are companion dolls but not identical. Both wear ecru cotton costumes decorated with lace and ribbon but each is distinctly individually styled. The dolls do wear Identical hats. The clothing is sewn onto the dolls so I did not attempt to disturb the originality and remove it. Due to the close fitting costumes of the dolls, they cannot sit and their arm and leg movements are limited. The heads, unmarked, are both in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs and, due to the artistry of both the dolls and their costumes, I definitely believe these two were made in Germany circa the early 20.
They would be great displayed as children of larger antique dolls or perhaps used in a doll house.
