Antique 26 Handwerck Bisque & Kid German Doll HcH 5H Sleep Eyes withProvenance

  

Beautiful antique German Heinrich Handwerck & Heubach doll, approx. 26 tall; she has a bisque head and lower arms, and what appears to be a kid leather and possibly some cloth body her clothes are sewn on, so I can't see all of her body. She has an attached pate with brunette wig, blue glass sleep eyes, and open mouth with teeth; she also has pierced ears, a dimpled chin, and a very sweet face. She is marked: Hch 5H Made in Germany, and she has the horseshoe mark. This doll was part of a collection that was dressed for and displayed at a 1970's doll convention, and she has the small paper tag from then and written on it at the time was her age to be judged at roughly 80 years old.

In overall very good, vintage condition, showing expected age/display wear, with no cracks or breaks to bisque that I could see and her sleep eyes seem to work fine; she has some "dot spots" to her face & neck, and her hands/wrist areas have some rough texture to the bisque and some smudge marks (see all photos), but her fingers are fine and her feet feel okay through the shoes; she has not been undressed as her clothing & shoes are all sewn on, but as near as I can feel through the fabric she is intact, feels firmly stuffed, and I didn't notice any leaks; her custom-made clothing is in great shape, save for some pinholes to petticoat and tears at the waist in back where a doll stand was inserted, but otherwise no rips, no stains, etc. One shoe is missing its little decorative bow. She came to me with a stand that was in poor condition, so I removed it and I'm including another stand I have that is large enough to display her; I will also include her provenance tag.

At her large size, she's truly a nice display doll, fully dressed, with a pretty, one-of-a-kind vintage handmade pink dress and a hairbow; she is antique and far from new, but all-in-all, she's in good shape for her age and she would be a wonderful addition to an antique doll collection.
