ALL-Original 24 1/2 Queen Louise AM Marseille Excellent Cond. Beautiful Costume

  

Offering a 24 1/2 tall sweet, totally original antique Queen Louise bisque head doll made by Armand Marseille from 1890-on. She has a lovely, clear complexion with peaches & cream bisque on a quality full-jointed composition body.

Her head is perfect with no flaws, chips, damage, or repairs. Dolly has blue glass sleep eyes with painted lower lashes and real upper lashes. Her eyes open and close smoothly.

She has flat, rather than the later molded brows, nicely -modeled features, shaded lips and an open mouth with upper teeth. Her head is fully-marked and her quality jointed composition body is in very good condition with less than normal wear. She wears her original wavy, blonde mohair wig with cardboard pate still attached to the wig. Her totally original costume comprises a ruffled pair of pantalettes and a full-length, pretty chemise accented with insertion lace, a cotton lawn dress with fitted bodice and 3/4 length sleeves, also trimmed with delicate lace sleeves and neckline. The dress features a very full skirt with tucks gathered up with ribbon at points on the hem.

It has some scattered rust marks and some of the delicate lace on the sleeves could use sone repair. Her original bonnet matches her dress and frames her face beautifully. She wears open, lacy socks and pale pink oilcloth shoes with buckles which are in very good condition. At some point in her past, all her clothing, which has no buttons, nor hooks & eyes and was likely pinned closed, has all been sewn closed by a few stitches here and there. She comes with a decorative hand fan that someone once made for her.

Her facial expression and her all-original presentation make her a desirable example of the Queen Louise mold. I think she has been a loved and cherished doll.
