20 High Brow, Early Antique Body, Spoon Hands

  
Here again is my 20 antique doll. I originally had a brown eyed covered wagon doll on this body and my cat knocked it out of the doll chair in my living room where it has sat for the last 30 years. The head broke in a million pieces and was beyond repair along with my heart. I looked for the last couple years to find a suitable replacement head for this wonderful antique body, but alas, it was not to be.

I settled on this repro that is engraved Livanah Wick 1994 on the back shoulder plate. I tried to capture a picture.

Of it but its all but impossible to see. The shoulder head is very nice with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The cloth body is stuffed very firmly stuffed. The leather arms are old but sturdy.

The spoon hands are antique. Someone told me they are not antique because they are molded.

Some people are really stupid about these things. Even the old doll heads were molded so its not surprising to find highly detailed molded hands but they are a rarity.

The body is very old but very solid. The half slip and pantaloons are antique and probably the dress as well.

The dress is a tiny polka dot burgundy with loads of antique lace, it does up on the left shoulder. This is a rare old body doll on a very nicely painted 40 year old head.
