Rare Elegant 18 Kestner Lady China With Braided Bun Exquisite Beige Fashion Gown

  
Rare and delicate 18 lady china doll was made by the German Kestner porcelain factory probably around 1865. I took her shoulder plate off and a manufacture mark is inside the head. No repairs, hairlines nor cracks to the shoulder head which is 5" tall and 4 1/4" wide. She has an elegant presence with a soft kind expression. Single stroke eyebrows arched with red eyelid line in the crease, bright blue eyes. Small thin mouth with white unpainted space between upper and lower lips. Lip line turns slightly up in a smile. Her hairstyle is rare with wavy black side rolls pulled to the back and a braided and coiled bun with light hair rubs.

Center part with puffs of hair on each side. See photos and end of nose glaze gone but no chips. Has antique hands with delicate fingers and flat booted shoes with breaks and reglue. Her original muslin body is without odor and has repairs and the written name of the original owner Mary Jane Shield Hamstreet. Has antique pantilets and cotton slip and an elongated fashion slip with intricate beige lace and netting.

Her beige skirt is heavy with three rows of tucks and cotton crocheted trim with an over skirt trimmed the same and huge bustle with embellished lace and bows. The fitted bodice has pearl buttons on crotcheted button holes and flared cuffs on the sleeves. This dress was professionally made and vintage. The photos are part of the description.
