An amazing piece made by Nymphenburg in Munich, Bavaria in the early to mid 20th century and the first time that I have ever played with a doll - plus my girls are all over this one : I'll try to describe it as best I can since this is a bit out of my usual area of collecting. It is a porcelain china head plus shoulder plus hands and feet doll.

I know Wackerle designed some of the heads he also made the ones for the Munich Art Dolls but I have no idea if this is one of the ones and apparently someone called Frau Kommerzienrat (though this is just a title and not an actual name of a person so no idea who this would have been) made the dresses. These Nymphenburg pieces are even better than the more common Kister Dressel ones that are also very collectible. Now back to this actual figure here - the head is amazingly well modeled and painted, and the fingers of the hands are really well done - to Nymphenburg's high standards. The feet have sandals on them with blue straps as shown. The body is made of cloth and from what I can figure out it is stitch jointed at the hips and shoulders - from what I could find in doing a bit of research. The dress is the nicest I could find anywhere an appears original to the piece. A beautiful shiny deep teal color with lots of amazingly detailed lace and a simple white apron. Plus look at that rose bouquet - a really nice touch! An added bonus I could not find with any other doll is that it come with its original stand - a porcelain base with a hole in the back that a metal pole goes into which has two prongs on top that hold the body of the doll tightly in place.

That stand is marked with both their impressed shield mark on top of the base and their green shield mark underneath as well as the model number 2170 and the letters MJ. And now for the best part - she is flawless in terms of the porcelain and appears to be perfect otherwise as well though that part I have no idea what to look for - so ask any questions you might have. The piece is about 15 inches tall, the bottom of the dress is 10 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM, Sevres and so on. Photos are part of the description - if you need others just let me know exactly what you are looking for and I'll take care of it speedily!
