Vintage German Porcelain Pincushion Half Doll Liquidation-dancer Fanny Elssler

This item is from my personal collection of beautiful half dolls. All the dolls in this collection are genuine, antique, vintage dolls. It is time to find new homes and new caretakers for these unusual, hard-to-find, rare, porcelain half dolls. Nationalities and Personalities add special interest to half doll collections. Some half dolls were inspired by real personalities.

The blue crown mark found in the base of this doll identifies the maker as Aelteste Volkstedter Porczellanmanufaktur (AVP). She was an Austrian ballerina of the Romantic Era mid-19th c. Fanny's performances of the great Romantic ballets, placed her among the most talented and notable ballerinas of the Romantic ballet period. Nudie half doll, Fanny Elssler. Fanny has molded hair swept back into a chignon with a gilded hair ornament completing her elegant look. Her face is delicately painted with coral lid lines highlighting her soft brown eyes, a fine nose, rouged cheeks and a sweet expression on her slightly parted coral lips.

There are blushed accents at the base of her throat, breasts, arms, hands, and fingers. Her gown was made by a professional dressmaker in peach silk fabric and beige lace. Fanny holds a metal fan in one hand and a domino mask in the other. These accessories are later additions to her ensemble but totally appropriate in proportion to the doll.

She appears to be on her way to a wonderful masquerade ball! Fanny Elssler was a boudoir lamp and is mounted on a wire frame with a light socket beneath the skirt. This is an exceptional half doll of majestic proportions. The Half Doll, Lorrin, Vol. Mounted height 13 1/2 Condition.
