Vintage Bisque Porcelain Parian-type Liberty or Tiara Doll by Grace Lathrop

  

This doll is from the estate of my grandmother who was a doll maker and collector. It is a fine quality vintage reproduction of an antique that has never been used and has been carefully stored for at least 20 years. She is a parian-type unglazed tinted porcelain doll made with great detail. The mold for this doll was created in the 1940's by the famous doll maker, Emma Clear who called her "Tiara". This doll was reproduced by Grace Lathrop and is marked "Lathrop'52".

The delicate painting of her facing and the tinting of her sweet rounded cheeks is expertly done. She has an elaborate braided hairstyle and a molded blue and gold tiara. Blue and gold earrings are attached. The porcelain arms have nicely defined fingers on spoon-style hands and she has sweet little blue boots with gold painted trim. The bisque parts have no chips or cracks and the cloth body is in perfect condition.

The gorgeous blue satin gown is handmade with delicate silver abd gold trim. The back is accented with a brocade train lined with pink satin.
