Vintage 24-25 Reproduction French Charmante POLLY MANN Doll Bisque/ Cloth 1955

  
This is a Reproduction French? Charmante doll made in 1955 by Polly Mann. She is 24-25 tall and has a bisque head and shoulder plate (the head turns), bisque lower arms and legs with feet. No cracks or marks on the doll or the body. The note on the doll showed this to be a French Reproduction doll.

Looking at other dolls I think it is correct but not sure. I can only be sure of the markings on the doll. The note that came with the doll showed sh. Cloth body, I do not know what that means.

She is almost 8 pounds. It is a lot less expensive than Priority. Her eyes look like glass and she has real looking eyelashes as well as the ones painted on her bisque. Hair is a wig and it is a mess. Needs to be styled or replaced.

There are a lot of bobby pins in the hair to hold it together. A note that came with the doll said h. Wig, I do not know what that means maybe human hair wig. Head shows "by Polly Mann 1955". I think it may show the Charmante under the wig but because it is covered up may be why she wrote Charmante on the doll's cloth body.

Written lightly in ink on the back of the cloth body is May 10, 1955 Charmante by Polly Mann. Item includes the doll, skirt, blouse, half slip, bloomers, socks and shoes. Outfit is not made very well, I would replace it.

Slip, skirt and blouse are pinned to close in back. Where the blue material is connected to the skirt some of the seams are coming loose. The top is too short and has trouble staying tucked in. You could sew the top to the skirt and add a snap if you want to keep the outfit.

The bloomers, socks and shoes are vintage but in pretty good shape. The little pin on the neck of the dress is a earring clipped on, it came with it so I left it.
